We love this even more after having the chance to play with it. The pieces are good quality, they fit together well, and work with the other 3D base game perfectly. *You do need to have a cup or bag to hide the pips for the island pieces (you can see through them, so turning them over isn’t an option). It would be nice if they included a cloth bag or cup so we didn’t have to use a toddler cup during game play.* I’m not taking a star away for that, as the game is it comes is 5 stars, but if they wanted to take it up a notch, a little black bag and gold on the gold hex’s would do it.

Seems to be a very nice quality and matches well to the 3D Catan base game. The box is well organized and the pieces fit snug but not too tight so it will be easy to transport from game closet to play table without everything moving about in the box.
We bought this on a great sale and at the $150 price point it was worth it since Catan is a regular, family favorite in our house. I wouldn’t want to spend more than that personally, but it is a great collectible game so that is personal preference.
The pieces seem to be well made and have a nice amount of detail. I do agree that it would be nice if the “gold” hexes were brushed with gold paint or had gold anywhere present on the hex. It would have been a nice touch. That’s the only thing I would change right off the bat.
Overall, I would buy it again and we look forward to playing this for many, many years to come.

To start, each player places two settlement pieces on points where terrain hexes meet. On each turn, you’ll roll two dice. The result of those dice determine who receives resources.
Each player who owns a settlement adjacent to a terrain hex marked with the number rolled receives a resource produced by this hex.
Collect resources to build roads and new settlements or upgrade existing settlements to cities. If you expand cleverly, you may be the first player to reach 10 victory points and win the game!

Arrived seriously damaged.
The shipping packaging was not damaged in anyway so the only explanation is that it was packaged at the warehouse already damaged.John DrinkwaterArrived seriously damaged.

The display wrap was torn inside an intact plastic wrap (suggesting knowledge of damage and a deliberate repacking attempt). The actual game storage box was not damaged. The game pieces were scattered inside the box not fitting as they should have because of the damaged inserts. All pieces appear to be accounted for and undamaged.
I am keeping the expansion as it is usable in its current condition however I am most unimpressed with being shipped a significantly damaged product.
This was not damaged during shipping.
