    Imagine you are the creeper of a track and drive to a turnout. On one of the two nearest tracks are a kitten and a dog cuddling together. But on the other track there is a pushchair. It doesn't look good. How will you choose? And what happens if a few villains move on the tracks?

    Trial by Trolley is a game in which a well-known thought experiment at the game table provides lots of laughs: which track with which people would you ride over it if you had to go? Even if the question is macaber, this party game can be perfectly combined with many cards, humour and thoughtfulness. It's about making a decision while all other players talk to the decision maker like wildly and try to influence him to roll the track of each other team.

    How it works:
    A player takes on the role of the creator who sets the switches and has to decide on which track an unstoppable train will roll over everyone. All other players place cards with innocent victims and evil characters, as well as modifiers on the track to convince the creeper to drive along the other track. The cards are not always very seriously, as usual from the well-known comics of Cyanide and Happiness.

      Die bösen, nicht immer geschmackssicheren, Web-Comics von „Cyanide & Happiness“ dürften die eine oder der andere bereits kennen. Daneben geben sich die Strichmännchen auch in Animations-Serien und Videospielen ein Stelldichein. In diesem Fall liefern sie die Illustrationen für ein makabres Kartenspiel. Die ursprüngliche Veröffentlichung erfolgte im Rahmen einer Crowdfunding-Kampagne.

      Im Zentrum des Spiels stehen die 500 Karten, die sich in „Schuldig“ und „Nicht Schuldig“ aufteilen. Hier sind Personen oder Dinge abgebildet, beispielsweise ein Lottogewinn, Killerbienen, Cthulhu oder Keanu Reeves. Außerdem gehören zu dem Kartenpack noch die „Modifkatoren“. Diese liefern Ergänzungen zu den anderen beiden Kartentypen, die deren Bedeutung positiv oder negativ verändern. Außerdem liegen noch ein kleiner Spielplan mit einem zweigeteilten Schienenstrang und mehrere Papp-Marker in der Schachtel.

      Gespielt wird in zwei Teams, wobei ein separater Spieler die Rolle von Bahn-Bernd, dem Zugführer übernimmt. Ein Mitglied des Teams zieht drei „Schuldig“-Karten, ein anderer drei „Nicht Schuldig“-Karten. Alle übrigen Spieler ziehen je drei „Modifikatoren“. Schließlich werden zwei „Nicht Schuldig“-Karte vom Nachziehstapel aufgedeckt und an die beiden Gleise gelegt.
      Jedes Team legt nun einen „Nicht Schuldig“-Karte an das eigene Gleis, sowie eine „Schuldig“-Karte zum gegnerischen Team. Anschließend kommen noch Modifikatoren hinzu. Hat jeder Mitspieler eine Karte abgelegt, müssen sie Bahn-Bernd überzeugen, seinen Zug auf das Gleis des gegnerischen Teams zu leiten. Alle Mitglieder des Verlierer-Teams erhalten nun einen Marker und der nächste Spieler übernimmt die Rolle des Zugführers.
      Gespielt wird so lange, bis jeder einmal als Bernd an der Reihe war. Der Spieler mit den wenigsten Markern gewinnt die Partie.

      „Trial by Trolley“ ist böse, gemein, moralisch fragwürdig, zynisch aber, mit den richtigen Spielern, auch sehr, sehr lustig. Die Diskussionen um die Gleiswahl machen dabei den eigentlichen Reiz aus. Wer sich trotz der Thematik darauf einlassen kann, wird viel Spaß haben – grade in einer etwas größeren Gruppe! Die Regeln an sich sind einfach gehalten und schnell erklärt, so wie es sich für ein klassisches Partyspiel gehört.
      Die Gestaltung der Karten orientiert sich natürlich an den Web-Comics, die Pate standen. Der Stil ist sehr reduziert, und legt keinen sonderlich großen Wert auf Details. Die Qualität der Karten und Marker ist gut und entspricht den gängigen Standards. Allerdings hätte ich mir einen etwas stabileren Spielplan gewünscht.

      Wie immer sind die Spiele aus dem Hause ein Bringer....jedoch auch nur mit den richtigen Leuten/Freunden (mit sarkastischen und teils schwarzen Humor). Wer es in einer konservativen Schweigerunde auspackt, wird eher keinen Spaß haben.

      Ansonsten wird es garantiert spaßig, mit witzigen Diskussionen bei denen Freud und Leid nah beieinander liegen.
