Product description
Product Description
Have you ever had the desire to walk the streets of Victorian London with Sherlock Holmes in search of Professor Moriarty? To search the docks for the giant rat of Sumatra? To walk up Baker Street as the fog is rolling in and hear Holmes cry out, "Come, Watson, come! The game is afoot!"? Now you can! You can enter the opium den beneath the Bar of Gold, but beware, that may be Colonel Sebastian Moran lurking around the corner. You can capture the mystery and excitement of Holmes' London in this challenging and informative game. You, the player, will match your deductive abilities against your opponents and the master sleuth himself, Sherlock Holmes. In Sherlock Holmes Consulting Detective, you are presented with a mystery to solve, and it is then up to you to trace the threads of evidence through the byways and mansions of nineteenth century London. You will interview suspects, search the newspapers for clues, and put together the facts to reach a solution. Why were two lions murdered in Hyde Park? Who is responsible for the missing paintings from the National Gallery? Who murdered Oswald Mason and why? These are just a few of the cases that will challenge your ingenuity and deductive abilities. This is not a board game: No dice, no luck, but a challenge to your mental ability. The game has been thoroughly researched for Holmesian and Victorian accuracy so as to capture a feeling of that bygone era.
Box Contains
1 map of London, 10 case booklets, 10 newspapers, 1 London directory, 1 rulebook

- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 23 January 2021Size Name: The Thames Murders and Other CasesPattern Name: SingleVerified PurchaseThis is a really enjoyable game (I have only played two-player). It's full of atmosphere and you really feel like you're following a proper Sherlock Holmes story (and there are 10 stories in the base game, each lasting a good hour or two depending on how much you want to investigate).
he best advice I can give is just forget about beating Sherlock and enjoy the game. Don't worry about following too many leads (you will be penalised for following more than Holmes) because after playing through two cases already I can say that the Sherlock in this game has retrocognition abilities very much on par with the one in the novels. We got way more satisfaction from being able to answer some of the questions at the end of each game, half of which are like side-plot, but really flesh out the story.
Worth a buy, especially if you are a total newcomer to this style of game, as I am.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 11 December 2023Size Name: The Thames Murders and Other CasesPattern Name: SingleVerified PurchaseOnce you get the hang of game play, there’s hours of the most enormous fun to be had if you enjoy a game that’s based on logic and reasoning.
It’s a collaborative game rather than competitive, which makes it perfect for a family get together. Everyone gets to play along, and everyone gets to win.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 11 November 2024Size Name: The Thames Murders and Other CasesPattern Name: SingleVerified PurchaseWhile there is quite a bit of reading to do, it's an interesting read and at least you don't have to read over the same stuff a bunch of times so it's more a question of prioritising leads and keeping focus on what is important to investigate. I don't think the single play-through is an issue per se. At 10 cases, it's cheaper than a pint per game so well worth the relative time it takes to finish it and once you're done, I think it makes an excellent gift/share for someone else to try their hand and compare how far off you all are from holmes' deductions.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 25 January 2023Size Name: Bureau of InvestigationPattern Name: SingleVerified PurchaseReally really good game! It can provide hours of fun. The concept is great, the investigations can be hard, it is important to record the details while progressing. Perfect for two people but I can see the appealing with a bigger group as well.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 30 October 2024Size Name: The Thames Murders and Other CasesPattern Name: SingleVerified PurchaseWe've only played the first case, but we had so much fun. The open-ended nature of it is a bit confusing at first, but once you get going it's brilliant. Just having a map and a directory and leaving you to make decisions on where to go to follow leads means you can find yourself pursuing enquiries that are red herrings and missing things that could be important. But that is the fun, you are making your own choices.
The scoring almost is an afterthought, because you won't solve it quicker than Sherlock, but honestly, who cares when you're having this much fun!
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 5 September 2018Size Name: The Thames Murders and Other CasesPattern Name: SingleVerified PurchaseBlown away by this game. Didn't know what to expect, bought it hoping it was going to be half decent. So impressed, it's so original, beautifully presented. The story telling is spot on, just difficult enough to make it a challenge, but not so hard that you have no way of solving the mystery. Not one for the kids and no replay ability. For £30, its a must have. Seriously, buy it and get next day delivery.

- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 17 April 2024Size Name: Bureau of InvestigationPattern Name: SingleVerified PurchaseIt toom us a good couple of hours to do each one. The first one we failed spectacularly. It is a bit hit or miss if you find the right lead that takes you the right way. You never solve it as such, rather you pick areas of interest and if right it tells you the story. I think I prefer more of an escape room type game with actual puzzles. This is just a lot of reading.

5.0 out of 5 stars Muy bueno
Size Name: The Thames Murders and Other CasesPattern Name: SingleVerified PurchaseJuego cooperativo. Casi ni necesita la mesa, es más, mucha, lectura y comprensión, investigación. Cada caso tarda un buen rato aunque creo que la caja dice 2 horas. Está interesante y buena la historia. Dificultad... depende de tu habilidad para resolver misterios.
