In Vikings: Warriors of the North, players take on the role of Viking jarls. The first to pillage all the villages and take the daughters of their thanes to their home port will be declared the winner. To do so, the jarls will have to brave the harsh weather of the North Seas, battling each other along the way, and watch for the sea monster that lurks beneath the waves. The most skillful and vehement of them all will throw a great party and become the Konung of the North. Players draw cards from a common deck. Wind cards are used to move a longship around the board describing the cold North Sea. Players may move the longship to a village (to sack it), to an enemy longship (to attack it), or to their own ports, where they may throw a feast for the gods. A player may also use cards to change the game: he may increase his chances at an attack, drastically re-roll the dice, sail further with his longship, or steal cards from an enemy's hand. All of the story events these cards represent have tangible effects on the game. Some cards represent heroes who can become part of a longship's crew. As long as a hero's effect remains on the ship, it grants its owner a permanent effect. Each longship has three open slots for heroes. Daughters of the thanes are also considered heroes, so they also occupy a longship's slots. With only three slots, players have to think hard about their crew composition. On a turn, a player may play any number of cards from their hand and take an action: attack, sack a village, reach a feast, etc. Attacks are resolved by a roll of a six-sided (d6) die, though many cards influence the outcome of combat, so every battle is exciting. When a player has three Daughters of the Thanes and brings them to her own port, the game is over and that player wins. The game is fast, furious and fun, full of twists and comebacks; and it really lets you feel like a Viking chieftain.

A pretty fun game for around 3-4 players. Nice artwork and pieces. A good Viking themed game to play when you need a break from the heavier thinking games that take hours and hours.
Fun to play. Event cards help to keep the game interesting. The only problem is I wish the layout of the board was changeable because it seems like the movements from game to game are the same.
