- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 26 April 2021Style Name: LighthouseVerified PurchaseAs soon as we saw that Exit had launched a new style of escape-room type game we had to try it. We've played all of their existing range up to the most recent release, and while we've enjoyed all of them the chance to try something where the gameplay is a little different was very welcome.
Those familiar with standard Exit Games will find some things familiar here (the code disc) but other things in 'The Deserted Lighthouse' are very different (no cards, no book). All rooms are played out via 4 jigsaws, which you complete one by one as the game progresses. As you complete puzzles and solve clues you'll receive further documents to help you on your way, either providing new puzzles or evidence, or directing you to start a new jigsaw.
We really enjoyed this game. It took us a little while to get going at first, but once you get into the game the experience is very similar to the previous games but with added fun. We picked the harder of the two games on the market but we should have tried the easier one first, as we did need a few hints, but we'll go back and play that one soon.
I particularly liked that several of the puzzles rely on/use the jigsaws themselves as part of the solution, it's not just that you complete them and look at the picture every time. Once you get your head around that it helps going forward to complete the further puzzles.
The games are a bit longer than previous games due to the jigsaw aspect, we completed the game in around 2 hours. I'm sure others could do it quicker. I'd recommend doing some of the smaller games first if you're a beginner to get used to the process.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 17 December 2024Style Name: Sacred Temple PuzzleVerified PurchaseBought as a present to play with a family group ranging from 10 to 80. Everyone was able to join in and the jigsaw puzzles particularly were accessible to everyone.
Some of the other puzzles were a bit obscure and took time for us to get on the same 'wavelength' as the producers. I suspect if we did more of these games, we would become better at them because of familiarity with the type of puzzles.
We all enjoyed the game and would recommend it.

- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 11 February 2024Style Name: Nightfall ManorVerified PurchaseWe love board games and escape rooms and have bought a number of these previously, which probably makes them a little easier as we have experience of how they may work. Our team of four ranges from age 26 to 79, with the 79 year old being queen of jigsaws - a great family game. Just bear in mind that you can only play it once.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 30 April 2023Style Name: LighthouseVerified PurchaseI am a big fan of the Exit games. This one didn’t disappoint. My daughter (14) and I love to play these together during the holidays or weekends. This one had us enthralled and at points stumped. Excellent value for money. We love the addition of the jigsaw puzzles to the game play and this game’s puzzles were tricky because the they were all quite dark in colour. These games can only be played once, but work out cheaper than going to an escape room. I would recommend this game to anyone who enjoys escape rooms or puzzle games.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great escape room experience!
Style Name: LighthouseVerified PurchaseWe are experienced with at home and in person challenges and this one was fabulous. Puzzles are interactive, and a part of the whole experience- don’t put them away thinking you’re done in the step you’ve assembled! We were able to “copy” the parts that were consumable so this kit can be passed along and reused.
Ages ranged from 10 to 65 and we could all participate and contribute.

5.0 out of 5 stars So fun and well thought out
Style Name: Nightfall ManorVerified PurchaseI have played almost all of the Exit games. Some are better than others. This one is near the top of the list. Its riddles start off easy and get harder as the game continues. They are clever without being too outside the box to solve. There are fun discoveries and creative solutions. I wish I could erase my memory and play it again.

1.0 out of 5 stars Don’t waste your time
Style Name: LighthouseVerified PurchaseWe wanted to like this, because we like the other puzzles in the series that we’ve done, but it was so hard that we stopped having fun. So many of the clues for the locks didn’t make sense or the clue would open a lock that was nowhere near the clue so you didn’t know which one to open. There simply was no logic. The last puzzle was way too simple considering the other puzzles, and basically rendered one other entire puzzle moot. That’s right, we were able to complete the puzzle without solving one of the clues. We’ve loved the other puzzles in this series so not sure what happened with this one. Guess you can’t win them all!
