Customer Reviews, including Product Star Ratings help customers to learn more about the product and decide whether it is the right product for them.
To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyzed reviews to verify trustworthiness.
I took a chance on this game even with the bad review because my 4 year old started talking about circus puppies (all from his own imagination.) Plus the price was fairly cheap. We actually like this game a lot. It isn't our favorite (we own quite a few games.) But we find it fun and accessible. Maybe I can give you some information to help you decide if this game is for your family or not. Cons: The instructions are not very good. They seem incomplete and full of mistakes. The extra stage cards should be different, according to the rules. They are all exactly the same. I will likely just write in the differences on each card and the problem will be solved, though the aesthetics will not be as good. The scoring is confusing. I watched a tutorial online, and that helped a lot. The cards are nice enough, but I suspect that with a lot of play, they will not last terribly long, and since they are meant to be bent, card sleeves won't help. Pros: We tweaked the rules a bit and even my seven year old autistic son played and enjoyed it. While he is highly intelligent, he doesn't always have the attention span for games. But he enjoyed this game with us. As long as adult can help with reading, no reading is necessary for younger players. The artwork is super cute and engaging for kids. It's essentially a simple stacking game. So it can be tweaked any way you like.
Overall, I think at the current price of $6ish dollars, it's a great little family game. In our household, I probably wouldn't be upset if I had paid a little more because the theme and gameplay works for my kids. But it might not be for everyone.
Tip: watch an online tutorial to figure out how to fold the cards so that they stay folded when stacked.
I have a six year old daughter and I’ve been introducing her to the world of gaming one game at a time. This was the newest game we purchased from our local games store. We immediately returned it after a painful single session trying to play it. I’ve played table top games most of my life and I can say that the instructions for this game are among the most problematic I have ever read. Maybe I’m spoiled with the precision of all the German games instructions, I don’t know. I was able to watch a couple YouTube videos which helped understand the gameplay a bit better, but there were still questions. In fairness to the game, one of the issue I had was that you are instructed to shuffle and place face down “stage cards” that come with the game. This made absolutely no sense to me, all five of the stage cards that came with my copy were identical. IDENTICAL. Why would you shuffle and place face down identical cards? I think this was a mistake or misprint (which is in itself telling). The version in the videos we watched seemed to have cards that were different from each other.
Another issue is with the puppy cards themselves. They do not stay bent, so stacking them on top of each other is frustrating. Not fun challenging, just frustrating. We have Rhino Hero and the way those cards stack makes so much more sense. The folds don’t have to stay true and the cards can unbend somewhat because you are stacking them vertically.
I will say the art is well done, my daughter was really drawn to the packaging. The way the packaging is multi-purposed is also smart. The game really falls apart when you open up the instructions.
