Product Description

Similo is a co-operative deduction Game, and each version of the Game comes with a deck of thirty cards, beautifully illustrated by naïade, showing the portrait and the name of a series of characters with a common theme, like fables. Your goal is to make the other players guess one secret character (out of the twelve characters on display in the middle of the table) by playing other character cards from your hand as clues, stating whether they are similar to or different from the secret character. After each turn, the other players must remove one or more characters from the table until only the right one remains and you win — or it is removed and you lose!

Fun & Quick. Easy to Learn.

Fun & Quick. Easy to Learn.
This game is a quick and fun game to play. The instructions are pretty straightforward. Basically this game is either EVERYONE wins or EVERYONE loses. There is no individual winner. This makes it so that everyone has to work together. This game is more fun with at least 3 people. My 5 yr old was even helping figure out the clues with my 16 & 13 yr olds.Game play starts with everyone deciding who is going to be the clue giver. The clue giver then picks a card at random and looks at it. The clue giver then picks 11 additional cards (12 total) and lays them all face up on the table in a grid. The clue giver then picks 5 cards from the extra pile and holds these cards in his hand, for his eyes only.My husband was the clue giver. He couldn't talk, use hand gestures, or do anything other than lay a character card face up on the table in a vertical or horizontal way. Vertical means the card he played has something in common with the original character card that he chose. Laying the card horizontally means that this card has nothing in common with his character's card. Once a character card(s) is layed down, the clue giver takes how ever many to replenish his hand back to 5. Then the guessers (everyone, but the clue giver) decide which card to eliminate from the grid. If they remove the actual character in question, then the game is over and everyone loses. If they take a card that is not the character, then gameplay continues with more clue (character) cards being laid down in the next round. My kids and husband seemed to enjoy this game. The only thing they squawked about were the creepy characters. I must say, a lot of the characters are creepier than what we're use to seeing.

Got this to play with my wife—looking for a 2-player cooperative game. We like it— fast to learn, which to play. We don’t always win, which is good. We’ve also played it with a group of four people and it was just as fun.

Love this game! It’s a great quick game that most ages can play. We love playing this as a family!

I found this version of Similo a bit more challenging than some of the other sets. Some monsters tend to have very similar features and all are obviously monsters so you can't play something to signify a good character as you would in the Fables version. Also the group I was playing with wasn't as familiar with the lore which is more on them than the game. If you love monsters and horror this is a fun version to have.

I really enjoy playing Similo with my kids (Ages 6 and 3). My 3 year old struggles somewhat with the rules but is catching on. My 6 year old understands the rules, but sometimes struggles to figure out the similarities that someone else might see between two cards (and then eliminates the secret animal on accident). Regardless, they often get it out in the evening and ask me to play! For us it's really irrelevant whether they find the secret animal or not... They're learning to work together and consider how another person might identify similarities/differences between the cards, which I think is a good exercise for them. They have fun even if they lose and it's one of the few games they play together without fighting.

I bought this game for my 5 year old's birthday because he loves animals and our family loves games. Little did I know this would quickly become a family favorite.

First of all, the art is great. I love all the cards, though my mom thinks their eyes look weird. (I kind of think that just makes them look interesting, like their in on the secret.)

Secondly, everyone in our family gets in on this game. Our 2 year old picks cards at random for me to give as clues (which adds a level of difficulty for my clue giving and the rest of the family's clue getting, lol) and both the grandparents in their 70s have enjoyed it too.

Thirdly, it's educational! My kids are learning how to describe something, how to not blurt out an answer, how to problem solve, how to make connections about very different things, and how to see multiple possible solutions or meanings... And of course they're reinforcing what they know about animals. Mammals vs birds vs reptiles. Which animals live together and which don't.

Great game. I intend to buy the other animals set to add to this one for more variety and get the fairy tales version when we start our fairy tale unit this year at school.

This is a very quick fun cooperative game, that ramps up each round making things more intense until you ultimately win or lose. I've played this game a lot with my kids (the ones 6+ years) and they love it. We even played it where my 4-year-old was on my team as the clue giver. I'd let her choose which card to give as the clue and then I would put it down (orienting the card to say whether it was similar or different from the secret card, which gave us all a good challenge but it was fun. Eventually, if you play with the same group the clues you are giving start to feel a little bit the same. You start to figure out what people mean by putting down different types of cards. However, you combine this deck with another Similo deck and that can shake things up quite a bit. I've seen people just shuffle the two animal decks together (which is what we ended up doing), but we've also tried to use this deck to give clues about a totally different kind of deck (Similo Harry Potter in our case) and that really makes things difficult and takes it to the next level. There are lots of ways you can keep the game fresh.
