5,0 van 5 sterren A lot of fun once you get the symbols!
Overall:
If this were a 10-point score, I’d give it a 9
I really enjoyed this game. The visuals are beautiful. It was hard to learn but really worth it once you get going. The pacing is great, and it holds excellent replay value. Once one person can teach others, it will go much quicker. My main complaints are that it takes a lot of table space, and the rules are confusing until you get the hang of it. You kind of have to jump in with the faith you’ll pick it up as you go.
Visuals
The printing is phenomenal. The art and flavor are fantastic. My kudos to the illustrator! My favorite part is the feel of the poker chips, they did not go cheap, and it’s a nice experience the way they clickclack. I was delighted as soon as I saw the box. It’s beautiful on the shelf, and inside, even the inserts are printed.
Gameplay: Once we understood the game, it went quickly. It is a lot of fun to pick what to draft, especially as you get to midgame and have a better idea of your strategy. This game is well designed for replay; it rewards you well for sticking with it. Each time you set up, you can alternate aspects of gameplay, goals, technology, a tech track, and other things meaning that the endgame experience changes every game. You cannot use one strategy and win every time. This flexibility is where it really shines.
Even despite our difficult start learning, it was over in 90 minutes, which means a normal game probably runs closer to an hour for two players. This is pretty ideal for a game night, in my opinion. I like that all scoring is at the end, so no one is “knocked out” or frustrated waiting for the finish, Even at the endgame you get to complete the turns when a person meets the requirement of 10 robots.
There’s nothing in here that’s violent or anything that makes it child unfriendly except for the complexity. If your kid can follow a complex game and enjoys them, this can work all right. I know 11-12-year-olds that would be fine here.
Critiques: I feel this game is best if someone knows the rules first and translates for the others. We had to find a video online. Some of the symbols are unclear, and it takes a while to get the hang of them. We found the rules challenging to follow the first time; we had to google several of our questions to make sure we understood things like how to get a new robot project once completed. Once you get the hang of it, it gets much easier, and I’m so glad we stuck with it. We almost packed the whole thing out of frustration. Definitely pick a patient friend for your first time learning! I would love to see a clear key for the symbols on a card, so we aren’t forever looking it up.
It also required about a minimum 16 square feet (4ft by 4ft) for two players and was very crowded. If you have a small table, this may not be playable as designed.
Conclusion
I love it. I will be back from more from the company.

5,0 van 5 sterren Excellent Science Meets Fun and Adventure
Galileo Project is a fantastic board game that has quickly become one of my favorites. The game takes place 30 years after the events of the popular game "Ganymede" and sees players competing to control four moons of Jupiter, including Ganymede. The game is set up by shuffling the robot and character cards and placing them on the main board. Players then choose their starting resources and level of their first robotic project.
The gameplay is fast-paced and engaging, with players taking up to three actions per turn, such as hiring characters, acquiring robots, or developing technologies. The characters and robots have unique abilities and end-game scoring conditions, making each game a fresh experience. The more robots you have of each type, the more actions you can take, which adds to the excitement of the game.
The goal of the game is to acquire your tenth robot card or to exhaust the character deck. Along the way, players can also claim goals and increase the level of their robots, which will increase their end-game score and bring additional benefits. The race to claim the goals and upgrade your robots is a key aspect of the game and adds a level of tension that makes each play thrilling.
The components of the game are of high quality and the design is visually appealing. The player boards are sturdy and the game pieces are well made. The manual is clear and easy to follow, making the game easy to learn, but difficult to master.
In conclusion, Galileo Project is a must-have for board game enthusiasts. It's easy to learn but challenging to master, making it perfect for casual and experienced players alike. I highly recommend this game to anyone looking for a fun and engaging experience.
Pros:
Engaging gameplay: The Galileo Project board game is designed to be highly entertaining and engaging, ensuring that players are fully immersed in the experience.
Educational: The game provides players with an opportunity to learn about history, science, and technology, making it a fun way to expand their knowledge.
Strategic: The game requires players to make strategic decisions, which makes it a great way to develop critical thinking skills.
Family friendly: The game is suitable for players of all ages, making it a great choice for families looking for a fun and educational activity to enjoy together.
Easy to learn: The game is easy to learn and understand, even for those who are new to board games.
Cons:
Lengthy: The game can take a long time to play, which may not be suitable for those who are looking for a quick and simple game.
Complex: The game can be quite complex, which may make it difficult for younger players to understand.
Cost: The game can be quite expensive, making it less accessible for some people.
Limited Replayability: The game may not be as enjoyable to play multiple times, which may limit its replayability.

5,0 van 5 sterren Top notch components, easy to understand gameplay, great family game, top shelf game!
My family and I play a lot of board / war games. My personal favorite wargames are American Civil War, 40k, AOS, Bolt Action or some fun sci-fi scenarios or "bizarre what if?" moments. My favorite style of board games are deckbuilding, I love that even when dealt a bad hand, one can use strategy to overcome and achieve. Kids really like worker placement and eck building games as well.
Galileo, by David Sitbon & Adrian Hesling is a strategy game with some very unique elements I was not familiar with. For example being able to change track on the board to get an advantage and not get bogged down with one type of growth either robots and certain planet growth or human growth. Each can be altered by purchasing tech to gain an advantage. The end goal is to acquire as many points as possible verses your opponents and that can be achieved by quickly moving to different tracks with your robots to different planets.
The artwork is top notch, it is reminiscent of a 1983 Parker Brother game called Shadowlord from my childhood in my opinion. Each character is vibrant and unique in its style. There is also a classic Star Trek feel / style to them at least for the human characters.
Gameplay reminds me of worker placement style games like Agricola. However, it is not deep and thick, instead the gameplay is light, which when playing with a family I think is great. First gameplay took us well over the suggested playtime of 90 minutes, but that is normal when playing through the game the first time.
Components are top notch. From the thick cardboard box, to the weighted poker chips and thick insert everything is top notch quality. Chits feel good in the hand and the instructions are easy to follow. A playthrough video of the rules also exists for those who may find the rulebook confusing, but it is straightforward with easy to understand iconography. Overtime and through repetition we should be able to hit the 30-90 minute mark.
My kids 10 & 14 both enjoyed playing the game with me. It is light enough for pre-teens and teens to follow and has enough strategy to not have anyone go off the rails with too much depth and getting bogged down.
My only issue is that it doesn't have a single player option, but it's something I can easily hobble together on my own, but other than that I believe this is easily a top shelf game at our house.

5,0 van 5 sterren No jokes, I promise
I know we're all wondering whether I'll make it through a review of "Galileo Project" without any jokes. Heck, I'm wondering myself. Not because of the game, which is excellent, but because of the name of the publisher: "Sorry We are French", which is the most Canadian title for a company one could possibly imagine.
But no, no jokes about the title of the company. This is a review of the game, which will appeal to fans of the old Master of Orion games and is roughly a solar system equivalent of the same principle. It's not quite as organic and fluid as the old PC game, but it's fun experience nonetheless. Attractive and sturdy pieces explain the higher price tag, and, well, you can play the game yourself to find out whether it's any good. Don't expect to master it on the first go, but expect to want to give it another go when you're done.
And yes, there are definitely a set of instructions in French in the package.
