Badly damaged box.

Badly damaged box.
We were very excited to purchase Road Kill Rally to add to our collection of 356 games. We are collectors, so condition is extremely important. The box the order was delivered in was in a great condition, but upon opening we discovered one of the game boxes corners was badly damaged. Having a game in this condition is unacceptable for us, but unfortunately before looking at the box I took the seal off. Huge dissappointment this game came in such awful condition.

I have been wanting this game for a long time now and I am glad that I finally have this in my collection. The dice feel solid and the road pieces (game board pieces) are heavy and durable. I am not a fan of having to punch out all my game tokens, but as this seems to be the new trend in board games now, I guess I can live with it. I will say that of all the recent games that I have purchased that required the end-user to punch out parts, these came out the most cleanly. No rips in the facing/backing paper, and no struggles removing even the smallest ones. The game plays a lot like a video-game, which is excellent for players that don't like to wait their turns. Each phase of the game is completed by each player, before the entire turn ends. This makes for a fast-paced, almost real-time, play mechanic. The pedestrians and place descriptions are cute enough to separate your game-play from reality, so there should be fewer lawsuits claiming that this game caused someone to strap rocket launchers onto their car and run down elderly people with walkers...maybe.
This is a fun game, if you are on the fence about it, just get it and you will no longer be on the fence (since that's a good way to wipeout), and you won't regret it.

I will say, that the coolest part of the game is being able to lengthen or shorten the game simply by placing the finish line further or closer to the top of the draw pile, but I have a vision in mind of 12 racers and a game that lasts several hours...that's right, buy TWO* of these games and lengthen the game exponentially.

*Seriously, is there an expansion or something? That would rock!

Considering I have roughly 40 board games, most of them fantasy themed, I didn't expect to like a racing game.

Bottom line: THIS GAME IS EXTREMELY FUN!

The rule book is short and sweet (considering the depth of game play), the mechanics are intuitive, and once you got the hang of it (1 or 2 turns) you are able to just enjoy the game for what it is... racing + violence. Every tile you flip over to extend the race track has it's own hilarious theme, special conditions, hazards and you mix them up at the start so every game is different. You need to play this with the right group of people who aren't offended by the theme.

If you like racing buy this game.
If you like rocket launchers an jet packs buy this game.
If you like scoring points for hitting pedestrians buy this game.

If you're offended by any of the above you still might want to try this game because it's so fun that you might get over it.

fun ero type game the is a race that requires you to hit or shoot old ladies, children or adults for points. The track is set up by square tiles that change as you play and the game winner is determined by the most points. The end tile my be randomly placed in the stack of tiles to use and so the end of the game is not always known until the last tile is played. Plays in 30-45mins. Fun for teenage to adults but because of the theme is not geared for younger children.

Weak mechanics, too long, barely fun. Fun card names and fun concept, but otherwise a wasted opportunity.

They're not allowed to legally say it, but this is Deathrace 2000, the board game. Go buy it NOW. It has plastic figures of little old ladies with walkers as one of the three types of pedestrians the racers get to hit (children, adults, elderly). That hints at potential awesome-ness...and it delivers on this promise in the game play.
The track grid style is like Formula D, but cornering is different. The track is laid out one tile at a time like the Game "Zombies!". Some tiles are just normal straights or turns, others have special rules. Everyone's car is armed with weapons, so it is also simplistic Car Wars. You have a hand full of screw others or help yourself cards to mix things up. One of the cards is the dash-board Jesus from the movie Dogma and one very clearly has the hippie teacher from Beavis & Butt-Head as the graphic. These guys are putting obscure reference humor all over the place. Scoring is a combination of pedestrian kills, vehicle damage and finish line position.
It costs less than an IMAX movie ticket.

Fun game, especially for 4 or more players. I think it would have been more popular if the 'road-kill' were zombies, rather than kids and pensioners! Doesn't bother me as I know it's only a game, but I know it will put some people off.
