A Fantasy Flight Game
Your military forces in Star Wars: Rebellion are represented by more than 150 detailed plastic miniatures, including Stormtroopers, Rebel Troopers, X-wings, Y-wings, TIE fighters, AT-AT Walkers, Star Destroyers, and more. There is even a Death Star and a partially constructed Death Star for you to place on the map should you begin construction on a second technological terror. All these forces have their combat statistics – attack dice and hit points – listed clearly on your faction sheet.
Experience the Galactic Civil War like never before
In Star Wars: Rebellion, you control the entire Galactic Empire or the fledgling Rebel Alliance.
You must command Starships, account for troop movements, and rally systems to your cause.
- Simultaneously, the game is intensely personal, cinematic, and heroic. Your forces are led by iconic heroes or villains.
- Including such characters as Leia Organa, Mon Mothma, Grand Moff Tarkin, and Emperor Palpatine, these leaders and their individual talents drive everything you do.
- As civil war spreads throughout the galaxy, these leaders are invaluable to your efforts, and the secret missions they attempt will evoke many of the most inspiring moments from the classic trilogy.
- You might send Luke Skywalker to receive Jedi training on Dagobah or have Darth Vader spring a trap that freezes Han Solo in carbonite!
"Star Wars: Rebellion is beautiful, it’s big, it’s tense, it’s interesting, and it is unquestionably Star Wars in a box. And perhaps most importantly, it’s just really fun." – Shut Up & Sit Down
Ultimately, your games will span multiple star systems. Many fighters will be lost. Many troopers will fall. Planets will join the Rebellion before they are overrun by the Empire and subjugated. Imperial officers may capture Rebel spies and interrogate them for valuable information. A hotshot Rebel pilot may land a one-in-a-million shot against the Death Star and destroy it.
In Star Wars: Rebellion, you and your friends decide the final fate of the galaxy. Will it remain under tyrannical rule, or will a select few manage to liberate it?
It is a period of civil war
Star Wars: Rebellion packs an astonishing amount of the classic Star Wars trilogy into a relatively compact ruleset. Each round of game encompasses three phases, yet as you play through those phases, you will encounter massive fleet battles, desperate attempts at espionage, Jedi training, political manoeuvrings, and even the possibility to lure important Rebel heroes to the dark side of the Force.
One of the most important ways that Star Wars: Rebellion evokes the original trilogy is through it's asymmetry. The Galactic Empire and Rebel Alliance are vastly different forces, and they come with different play styles and win conditions.
The Galactic Empire
As the Imperial player, you can command legions of Stormtroopers, swarms of TIE fighters, Star Destroyers, and even the Death Star. You rule the galaxy by fear, relying on the power of your massive military to enforce your will. To win the game, you need to snuff out the budding Rebel Alliance by finding it's base and obliterating it. Along the way, you can subjugate worlds or even destroy them.
The Rebel Alliance
As the Rebel player, you can command dozens of troopers, T-47 Airspeeders, Corellian Corvettes, and fighter squadrons. However, these forces are no match for the Imperial military. In terms of raw strength, you will find yourself clearly over matched from the very outset, so you need to rally the planets to join your cause and execute targeted military strikes to sabotage Imperial build yards and steal valuable intelligence. To win the Galactic Civil War, you need to sway the galaxy's citizens to your cause. If you survive long enough and strengthen your reputation, you inspire the galaxy to a full-scale revolt, and you win.
Star Wars: Rebellion
The game's asymmetry—and the distinctive feel of each faction's play style—extends beyond these differences, however, and into the very nature of the missions that either side can attempt, the projects the Imperial player can undertake, and the Rebel Alliance's military objectives. As the Rebel player, you might send your leaders to Establish Trade Relations or Incite Rebellion , but as the Imperial player you're more likely to keep the local systems in line with a Display of Power . Of course, you might simply tighten your security in order to capture Rebel leaders and then use them to lay your own traps, such as deploying a Homing Beacon .
The Ultimate Power in the Universe
From the tallest buildings on Coruscant to the farthest reaches of the Outer Rim, Star Wars: Rebellion presents you a chance to re-enact the conflicts of the Galactic Civil War that is unmatched in its scope and cinematic grandeur.
Rich with personality, replete with strategy, Star Wars: Rebellion is a massive, epic game and one that fully captures the spirit of the classic Star Wars trilogy.
Take control of the Empire and unleash your military might to snuff out the Rebel’s base, or begin a full-scale Rebellion focused on guerrilla tactics and sabotage.

It is so thrilling how you either feel like the Rebels or the Empire. I have only played it 1v1, as I feel the magic would be lost by having 4 players. The expansion is also great; it enhances the combat a lot.

This has so much Star Wars in it! Let me explain. You can attempt to turn Luke to the dark side if you are the Empire. Or as rebels you can get Luke to train with Yoda. This one or many small Star Wars moments in the game.
You can play 2 Vs 2 but the game is best with 1 Vs 1 with both players loving Star Wars.
If you feel the game is confusing there are plenty of easy 10 mins tutorials on YouTube and a beautiful rule reference guide which I love!
If I could choose to play any board game it’s this one! 👍

I read the rules the evening it arrived. The next day I was off work and played the game with my 15 year old son. We enjoyed it thoroughly and look forward to playing again. The first game took us 6 hours. Although I think normally replay would be 2-4, depending on how quick the rebel base is found. I can see what some others have said about the combat being a little awkward, but it's easy once you have got it in your head. Great game. Great quality. Hours of fun. If your a star wars and board game fan and cannot decide, I recommend taking the plunge and traveling to a galaxy far far away.

Images in this review - Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 4 July 2016Pattern Name: SingleStyle Name: Base GameVerified PurchaseExcellent game for Star Wars fans. I played 2 days after the game arrived. We played teams, and I was with the rebels. As a Rebel, you are overwhelmed by the empire, that has an impressive army from the start. Basically as a Rebel you have to resist, as is very difficult to beat the empire army. You have to avoid the empire discover your rebel phase, and try to comply with the missions to reduce the number of turns needed to win the game (14 by default).
The only thing I don't like is that you can't bomb ground armies with a airspace fleet. So, the battles are divided between space combat and ground combat. But you can't conquer a system only with space ships if the opponent only has ground units in the system, whereas in the computer game was possible.
The quality of the components are very good, as usual for a Fantasy Flight Games product. The miniatures are very nice, even the small ones have good detail.

- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 30 December 2017Pattern Name: SingleStyle Name: Base GameVerified PurchaseLove this game! It's tense tactical and really lets me get my geek on!
One player plays the Rebel Alliance and chooses a planet to hide their secret base and the other player takes control of the Imperials and tries to discover said base.
The components are absolutely first class, and the miniatures themselves are real quality. Lots of cards to play and some basic deck construction adds to the tension.
The combat mechanics have gotten a lot of hate but once you crack it, which doesn't take long, they're fine.
This is one of those games every board gamer should at least play if not own.
Another keeper for me.

4.0 out of 5 stars Ótima expansão, mas cara demais.

5.0 out of 5 stars Takes a Great Game, and Makes it Perfect
Pattern Name: SingleStyle Name: Rise of the Empire ExpansionVerified PurchaseI am a huge fan of Star Wars: Rebellion. I have been playing it since 2017, and absolutely adore the feel and mechanics of the game, with one exception: when it came time for combat, it did not feel like an epic battle. It felt like an exhausting grind that we would just try to get through. Combat was essentially little more than rolling dice and watching my brilliant plan slowly but spectacularly fall apart because luck abandoned me.
Rise of the Empire fixes combat. The Advanced Tactic Cards and the new Cinematic Combat Rules make combat move more quickly, give a player a better sense of control, encourage combined arms operations, and ultimately make it fun.
The new missions, projects, objectives, units, action cards, target markers, dice, and leaders are all fun and really spice up the game. However, the combat fix alone makes this expansion worth it, in my opinion.
I will note that the first version I ordered came incomplete (which is on FFG, not Amazon). It was missing 6 figurines. However, Amazon had a new (and complete) copy in my hands 24 hours later.
Totally satisfied with this product, and would STRONGLY recommend it to everyone who owns Rebellion.
