In Rebellion, you can control the entire power of the Galactic Empire or the rising Rebel Alliance: you will have to command spaceships, arrange troop movements, and persuade star systems to support your cause. Rebellion contains over 150 plastic thumbnails and two game boards that play 32 of the galaxy's most famous systems, to give the game the majesty and grandeur that the Star Wars universe deserves.
At the same time, the game is intensely personal, kinematic and heroic: your forces are driven by the most famous heroes and evil evers, characters like Leia Organa, Mon Mothma, Grand Moff Tarkin and Emperor Palpatine: these leaders and their specific talents are the driving force behind your every action. As civil war spreads across the galaxy, they will prove valuable to your efforts and the secret missions they undertake will evoke many of the most inspired moments of the classic trilogy. You can send Luke Skywalker to Dagobah to undergo Jedi training or use Darth Vader to orchestrate a trap that will freeze Han Solo in graphite.
As the game progresses, the civil war will involve more and more star systems. Many hunters will be lost. Many soldiers will fall. Planets will join the Rebellion before being invaded and subjugated by the Empire. Imperial officers could capture Rebel spies and question them to extort their valuable information. A stumbling Rebel pilot could score a master shot against Black Death and destroy it. In Rebellion, you and your friends will decide the ultimate fate of the galaxy. Will he remain under the yoke of tyranny or will a tiny group of heroes be able to release it?
IT'S A PERIOD OF CIVIL WAR
Rebellion incorporates an amazing amount of Star Wars classic trilogy events into a relatively compact regulation. Each round of play is divided into only three stages, but during these phases you will take part in gigantic fleet battles, desperate espionage attempts, Jedi training and political maneuvers, and even get the chance to attract the most important Rebel heroes to the dark side of the Force.
One of the most important ways in which Rebellion evokes the original trilogy is its asymmetry: the Galactic Empire and the Rebel Alliance are very different forces, matching equally different styles of play and victory conditions.
