Product Description
HEGEMONY: LEAD YOUR CLASS TO VICTORY - The Nation is in disarray and a war is waging between the classes. The working class faces a dismantled welfare system, the capitalists are losing their hard-earned profits, the middle class is gradually fading and the state is sinking into a deep deficit. Amidst all this chaos, the only person who can provide guidance is... you. Will you take the side of the working class and fight for social reforms? Or will you stand with the corporations and the free market? Will you help the government try to keep it all together, or will you try to enforce your agenda no matter the cost to the country? CLASSES: The Working class controls the workers. The Capitalist class controls the companies. The Middle class combines elements from both the Working class and the Capitalist. It has workers who can work in the Capitalist's companies but it can also build companies of its own, yet smaller. Finally the State is trying to keep everyone happy, providing benefits and subsidies when needed but trying also to maintain a steady income through taxes to avoid going into debt. While players have their own separate goals, they are all limited by a series of policies that affect most of their actions, like Taxation, Labor Market, Foreign Trade etc. Voting on those policies and using their influence to change them is also very important. Through careful planning, strategic actions and political maneuvering, you will do your best to increase the power of your class and carry out your agenda. Will you be the one to lead your class to victory? Hegemony is heavily based on actual academic principles such as Social-Democracy, Neoliberalism, Nationalism and Globalism, and allows players to see their real world applications through engaging gameplay. There are many ways to achieve hegemony- which one will you take?

Hegemony is an asymmetric, card-driven board game in which players take the role of a specific group: the Working Class, the Middle Class, the Capitalist Class, or the State itself.
The Working Class has Workers who work in exchange for money which they use to cover their basic needs: food, health, education and, if possible, entertainment. This player’s goal is to cover these needs to the best extent possible,
increasing their Workers’
prosperity.
The Middle Class also has Workers who work in various Companies gaining income but is also able to run its own smaller Companies.
The Middle Class also has Workers who work in various Companies gaining income but is also able to run its own smaller Companies. This player needs to find the perfect balance between producing, selling and consuming in order to cover their Workers’ needs and increase their prosperity.
The Capitalist Class runs Companies. Workers come to work in these Companies and produce
goods and services which the Capitalist Class then sells for profit. This player’s goal is to maximize their profit.
The State is trying to increase its legitimacy, working hard to keep all the Classes satisfied and in balance. At the same time, it tries to deal with any societal issues that arise.

- Reviewed in the United States on December 11, 2024It's a heavy game. First time playing expect 5hrs. Bring fluids and take breaks for snacks and food. There is so much nuance to every playthrough. Enough classes to try out that you may never master 1. It is higher up on the difficulty scale and isn't easy to pull out and play. Watch some videos. There weren't a lot available that really explained what was happening but I found one good one and it helped us along our way. Overall if you like heavy board games with a lot of strategy and table talk then this is for you. You won't be able to win on your own so you'll need to find someone to try and work with at some point.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 12, 2024If you are looking for this game I'm assuming you're a true board game lover. It's super heavy game and can take more than 6 hours for 4 new players, despite it says 120-180 minutes on the box. But still it's super fun and a engaging board game.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 30, 2024We've been playing this in our family and it is a GREAT education while being tons of fun. Every player was convinced that the other player's roles were easier and insisted we swap. Of course they discovered that every role is similarly challenging, but for different reasons. Really a wonderful game.
Clever 10 year olds could play, but you really should have an idea of working for money, buying and selling things, etc. to manage the concepts in this game.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 28, 2024This is a complex game for avid boardgamers and arrived in good shape. It was shipped quickly which was great for the holidays.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 12, 2024Best board game shop ever Made!
- Reviewed in the United States on August 21, 2024have only played one 2 player game. better than I thought it would be, can't wait to play again and start teaching the kids. it's heavy but not as heavy for us as we thought since the theme is based on somewhat real life stuff so we just mainly had problems remembering where points are given. worth every penny
- Reviewed in the United States on October 14, 2024thanks for the game! 5 stars! cheers!
- Reviewed in the United States on December 8, 2024Great quality but I wish there were better trays to hold all the pieces together. Overall a fun and immersive game to play with friends. There is a learning curve however but once you get the strategy of it you’ll be fine.
