I highly recommend this cooperate game that takes you through "The Planet of the Apes"!
I highly recommend this cooperate game that takes you through "The Planet of the Apes"! This game was a lot of fun. I really enjoyed playing the different personalities of Taylor with 4 of my friends. Ignore the other angry review comparing this to Yahtzee. There is a dice rolling component but there is much more to the game than that. I enjoyed having to race the "Statue of Liberty" and the "Apes" themselves during the gameplay through different scenes of the movie. The artwork is amazing and this artist needs their own comic book about "Planet of the Apes". "Monkey" around with the game yourself and you be the judge.

Yahtzee?? Really comparing this story line based game to Yahtzee? I don't think so. I'm still learning the in's and out's to this game, but it's nowhere related to Yahtzee. Components are nice as well as the miniatures and the illustrations are top notch, especially at this price point. Has a lot of replayability value, plus it can be played solo, which is why I bought it. I look forward to many years of playing this game when there's nothing else to do lol A++

As a huge POTA enthusiast and owner of the original series movies on blu-ray and the television series, I'm certainly looking for all things "classic" Planet of the Apes, so I picked up this game at a great price. Much to my chagrin, the most appealing element of the game was the fact it was based upon the original series of five films, and specifically the first film. Game play is extremely complicated, and note that the instructions, while generally well written, are complicated, as are all the elements of the game. While the artwork (comic book style - the game is released by a comic company) is remniscent of the original movie, that's all that the game has going for it. Even if you master the instructions and game play, good luck on finding another partner or partners (it's set up to be a collaborative game for up to four people - each person takes a separate chracteristic of George Taylor's personality), as this is NOT a jump in and play type of game. Only for the very niche hardcare "new style" gamer, I do not recommend this game, even for the POTA enthusiast!

This is a very difficult to win game. House rules need to be implemented to strike a good win/lose ratio.

      Positives:
+ It's true to the movie and it lets you relive the movie by going through the scenes and encounters
+ The artwork is appealing to look at
+ Rolling dice in a cooperative game where everyone is rooting for you is fun

      Negatives
      - Not a lot of replay value. While there are many different encounters that will be new from previous games, just the pictures are different but the actual mechanics of what you need to role to succeed on the encounters are repeated a lot.
      - Failures build on themselves fast and there's no coming back.
      - When you win, its because you succeeded almost all the time and didn't have to overcome setbacks so it doesn't feel like you limped to the finish line or earned it which can be less than satisfying.
