- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 10 January 2020Picked this up for a stupidly low price ( i paid less than £18 ). The production is good quality with a good looking board and nice artwork although the miniatures aren't fantastic. ( but they only act as markers and could easily have just been coloured cubes or disks ) it's easy to learn even though it looks quite complicated when set up on the table, and at about an hour per game it doesn't feel too long winded. I wouldn't pay the price most sellers are asking atm but if you can find it at sensible price it's well worth a try especially if you like the Viking theme.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 24 March 2019This game is such a bargain!
At first it appears to be quite a complicated game but once you get the hang of it it is pretty simple! Everyone who we've explained it to have picked it up straight away. The details on the board, cards and figures are really nice. Although you don't technically need the board if you don't have the space to play with it. It's just a place to display the cards and keep score. The most important parts are the player boards. A game usually lasts less than an hour. The only downside for me is that the board is quite delecate so you have to be careful unpacking and packing away the game.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 7 November 2019Firstly, given the price of this game I did not expect to receive a massive box with so many components in it. The art is breathtaking, and the components are well-made. The board is beautiful and takes up a lot of room when unfolded, so it's definitely not a game for small table owners (unless you like playing on the floor, in which case go for it!).
Secondly, despite of the thick rulebook inside, the game plays easily - once you remember what are the steps you're taking each turn, there's no need to look inside. Genuinely, for someone who struggles with having to remember a lot of complicated rules that is a blessing.
Finally, the game is incredibly well-balanced and offers multiple ways of winning. Someone who goes on raids all the time has the same chance of winning as someone focused on expanding their village. Again, that is something I can appreciate as the game doesn't feel highly competitive (there is more of "I do my own thing" rather than "I will do that to screw people over").
In short, this game instantly became one of our favourites and we can't wait to play again. Highly recommended!
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 4 July 2019Um.... I don’t understand the price. A massive board, player boards, miniatures. A card game disguised as a big box game for the cost of a small game + miniatures. Great game play too!
EDIT: I wrote this review when I paid £16 for the game - while it’s a good game I don’t think it’s worth the £50ish it is at the moment - for that price the minis and the actual game aren’t that good.
